SCORPIONS
Scorpions are very common in the Fort Worth/Dallas Metroplex. They sting, kill and feed on insects, spiders and even other
scorpions. Their sting is much like that of a wasp. You may see them anytime, but they are most active at night. They live outdoors under rocks, wood piles, rubbish and shrub bed bark.
Scorpions wander into structures and then live in closets, shoes or other dark places. Scorpions are not insects and come from the class Arachnida. They are
difficult to control since they continually enter into structures and insecticides take a long time to control them, after they have contacted a treated area.
They are especially infested in areas where new structures are being built, because of the disturbance of soil and rocks, wooded areas and along creeks.
Certain areas of the Metroplex seem to have extreme problems and other areas have very few of these stinging pests. Control:
Treating around the outside perimeter with insecticide sprays and certain granules, treating inside, attic spaces and under structures. Treating
around rock walls, crosstie walls, debris and shrub beds. Insecticide dusts are very helpful around weep holes are other openings where these pest may
enter a structure. Call us at (817) 834-3121 and schedule a treatment. Scorpions are controlled on our Quarterly Pest Control Program. Homeowner Control:
Pick up all debris and rubbish around the structure and seal all entry areas into the structure. Treat with appropriate products around the outside perimeter. |
